Michi-no-Eki Uzushio
The most dynamic in the world! A roadside station where you can have your fill of Awaji Island gourmet and the stunning scenery of the whirling tides
Michi-no-Eki Uzushio roadside station boasts an ideal location facing the Naruto Strait. It stands in a place where the great tidal currents collide, and from the view point, you can see some of the world’s best whirlpools up close. We recommend watching at high tide and low tide, when the tidal currents are even more rapid and you can feel the power of the huge whirlpools that appear one-after-another for yourself. Check the tide tables in advance to make sure you can see the whirlpools at the best time.
Michi-no-Eki Uzushio serves gourmet dishes made with abundant fresh ingredients from Awaji Island. The restaurants offer plenty of superb dishes unique to this roadside station, including juicy Awaji beef steak and seafood rice bowls heaped with seasonal marine produce!
Michi-no-Eki Uzushio even has a souvenir area, with a wide-ranging assortment of products made using sweet and delicious Awaji onions, local confections, and specialty products: perfect for selecting a souvenir.
When people mention “Michi-no-Eki Uzushio,” they might also think of the “onion claw machine” that has featured on social media! Maybe you’ll be able to grab several onions? Take on the challenge with friends and family, and of course for yourself!
