Saijosan Park Momiji Yama

A breathtaking tapestry of colorful leaves: make the most of the fall scenery!

Saijosan Park Momiji Yama in Shiso City is a restful location surrounded by the beauty of nature throughout the four seasons. It is particularly known as a famous place for brightly colored leaves in the fall, and attracts large numbers of visitors. From mid to late November, the whole mountainside is dyed red, orange, and yellow, creating blazing magnificence. The acer tunnel that lines the walkway is very popular as a photo spot. Benten Pond lies in the park, and on still days the “upside-down” fall leaves reflected on its surface create a lovely scene.

When the Saijosan Momiji Matsuri festival is held at the end of November, the park is lined with stalls and large numbers of tourists and local people come to visit. You’ll definitely want to see the nighttime illuminations! These create a fantastical landscape that is quite different to the bright daytime sunlight.
Eateries are dotted around the park area, and you’ll find Sakagura-dori street nearby too, so make sure you enjoy the park together with some local gourmet dishes.
