Takarazuka City Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum
“Look, read, and experience!” Make the most of the works of the “god of manga”
Osamu Tezuka is a legend in the world of manga in Japan. You can experience his magnificent world in the Takarazuka City Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum. When you enter the building, you’ll be welcomed in an entrance hall created in the image of the royal palace of Princess Knight. The regular exhibition room displays valuable representative creations from works such as Mighty Atom and Black Jack, and the capsule exhibition, created in imitation of the life support system that appears in Phoenix: Future, truly seems to dive into the world of the manga. There is also a special exhibition room that changes its exhibits three times a year, so you can make new discoveries each time you visit.
One highlight is the Library, where you can freely read around 2,000 volumes of Tezuka’s works. Almost all of his works are here, so you can forget the time and absorb yourself in reading. The Anime Workshop enables you to create your very own animation using pencils and animation video paper. The process of turning your own pictures into animation is packed with the joy of creation.
The museum shop is full of so many limited museum goods and cute character products that you’ll be at a loss at which to choose. This is a fascinating place that children and adults alike can enjoy even if they are not familiar with Tezuka’s works.
