This tour offers a unique experience that connects nature, tradition, craftsmanship, and the abundant ingredients of the five regions, allowing you to experience traditional crafts and the rich bounty of food through travel.
For example, Tamba-yaki, a type of pottery with over 800 years of history, is one of Japan’s “Six Old Kilns” and is a place where traditional ceramics are produced. You can experience pottery-making alongside skilled craftsmen here. In addition, in Miki City, known for its traditional blade-making, you will have the opportunity to experience the art of swordsmithing. Furthermore, at Akashi Ura Fishing Cooperative, where high-quality fish with a variety of species are caught, you can enjoy a thrilling auction tour and savor fresh sushi.

Tamba-yaki Pottery Experience

During the Tamba-yaki experience, you can try pottery making at a kiln, and visit the oldest climbing kiln, which has a history of over 800 years. There are also programs that include walking through the narrow alleys of the kilns, and experiencing both Tamba-yaki pottery and local food. Enjoy the rustic atmosphere that harmonizes nature and tradition, along with the modern impression of Tamba-yaki, a ceramic tradition recognized as a Japanese heritage.

In Miki City, a renowned metalworking town with a 400-year history, you can experience traditional blacksmithing techniques from Katzunori Tanaka, a highly regarded knife craftsman who is internationally acclaimed. Enjoy an impressive hands-on blacksmithing experience with one of the few handmade knife masters in Japan.
