The Kannabe Highlands has three ski areas. There’s “Up Kannabe,” perfect for a child’s debut in the snow, Oku Kan Snow Park, where you can enjoy an abundant variety of courses, and Manba, which beginners can use with peace of mind. Everyone from beginners and veterans can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in ski areas suited to them.

And the Kannabe Highlands doesn’t just appeal with sports alone! There are plenty of activities that enable you to feel its natural world.

In spring, you can harvest edible wild plants and fish for rainbow trout. In summer, you can do camping and barbeque. In the fall, you can walk around the brightly colored leaves and waterfalls. There are plenty of accommodation facilities in the area—not just hotels and ryokan inns but also minshuku guest houses and lodges. Choose an accommodation facility that suits your travel plans, perhaps close to a ski area or close to the hot springs.

People who are planning a day trip to the highlands can use only the hot springs or only the eateries. The roadside station Michi-no-Eki Kannabe Kogen is close by, offering vegetables directly from farmers, a specialty shop, and an eatery. At the restaurant, you can enjoy delicious local gourmet dishes made using Tsukiakari rice from Kannabe, so make sure you drop in.
