Katakuri, this 'Spring Ephemeral' flower has curious names in English such as erythonium, dogstooth violet and trout lily.
If you know katakuriko (potato starch) used in Japanese food, this is the flower the starch was extracted from in the olden days. This festival celebrates one of the kind purple carpet of katakuri. Enjoy the spring ephemeral at its best.
|Getting there||♦Taxi - 20 mins taxi ride from JR Iso Station.
♦Shuttle Bus - Take a free shuttle bus from JR Iso Station East Exit. 20 mins bus ride to the Katakuri Garden. The shuttle bus leaves JR Iso Station at 10:15, 11:15, 13:15, 14:15.
♦Drive - Get off the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway at Kasuga IC and drive on Kita-kinki-Toyooka Expressway. Get off at Hikami IC and drive for 15 mins.
