In spring, the remains of Sasayama Castle is famous
as a scenic spot for cherry blossom.
Sasayama Castle was completed in only half a year by order of Ieyasu Tokugawa
in 1609, mobilizing 80,000 workers per day. One can still see the stonewall surrounding
the remains. The site of the remains is designated as the National Historic Site.
A wooden building, "Dai-shoin" which was burned down by the fire was
reproduced in 2000.

Surrounded by mountains, Tamba area is rich in
seasonal foods such as, black soy beans, matsutake mushroom, chestnuts and boar
meat. Tamba has an amasingly variety of specialties. In the main building, "Honkan",
one can shop for those specialties as well as enjoy special dishes which use Tamba
ingredients. Three different kinds of traditional buildings from around the world
are dotted around the Garden. One can relax in a traditional atomosphere at "Tamba
Viennese House" where original cakes and a concert hall can be enjoyed. Surrounded
by a herb garden, "German House" is a European style farmer's house
displaying European antiques and rare cooking utensils used for making confectionary
in the olden days. Bread is baked in every 30 minutes in a stone oven. Spicy German
sausages and beer are also served here. A traditional Japanese farmer's house,
"Kayabuki-no-Ie" serves Japanese confectionary with a cup of green tea.
One can come by "Yakushiji Sanso," a villa build about 160 years ago,
anytime, and confectionary with a cup of green tea is available on request.

to Udo-kannon Bus Stop.
