[Arima Hot Springs]
Arima Hot Springs Arima Onsen is one of the oldest hot spring resorts in Japan with a 1,400-year tradition.  The Arima area has no volcano, but the temperature of the hot spring is amazingly more than 80 degrees C.  There are two types of baths in Arima, one is “Kin-no-yu,”Golden Spring, and the other is “Gin-no-yu,” Silver Spring. The Gold Spring contains a high level of iron and salt, shining in gold. When you take a bath, beware because the gold spring can make your towel turn brown!  The Silver Spring has no color and contains carbonic acid. Both of the springs make your skin smooth and have powers to rejuvenate.  About thirty minutes by car from the center of Kobe city.
Kin-no-yu,Gin-no-yu,Taiko-no-yudono-kan Museum As the legend in Arima goes, there were bathes which Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a ruler of Japan in 17 century, ordered to be built for his enjoyment.  After the collapse caused by the Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, the remains of the bathes were found in a temple. Hideyoshi refered to himself as Taiko. Taiko-no-yudono-kan Museum displays the remain of his bathes, gardens, roof tiles, tea utensils and others objects.
