[Nohfukuji Temple (Hyogo no Daibutsu)]
Hyogo Daibutu The Great Buddha statue of the temple known as “Hyogo no Daibutsu” stands tall at 11 meters.  The original statue was built in the Meiji era, but the metal used for it was confiscated in a metal shortage during World War II.  The present statue was rebuilt in 1991.  The temple grounds are home to Taira no Kiyomori’s grave and a monument in memory of the Kobe Incident when Taki Zensaburo, a samurai of the Bizen Clan, commited ritual suicide.

[Hyogo Canal & Shinkawa Canal]
These two canals located in Wadamisaki are the largest in Japan.  Many ships in Wadamisaki took refuge in Shinkawa Canal (1,311m) in bad weather, and became buried under the silt, eventually blocking the canal as a result.  It was here that much of the ancient port of Owada no Tomari was discovered.  Later in 1898, Hyogo Canal (1,800 m) was constructed as a passage to Hyogo Tsu.  This canal made huge contributions to the development of the local economy.  Along the banks of Shinkawa Canal a 300m promenade was constructed with a wooden path and benches that make make it an ideal spot for enjoying the waterside atmosphere.  There are also panels there which explain the history of the canals.
