Excursions for viewing scarlet maple leaves

An excursion for viewing scarlet maple leaves in autumn is a chance
to commune with nature for Japanese, parallel to viewing the
cherry blossoms in spring.
To prepare the winter the leaves that are going to fall from the
branches become brilliant colors.
From olden times many poets composed Japanese poems of thirty-one syllables
(tanka) and painters drew picture of leaves and trees using them as subject
matter for paintings.
